Regulatory Accountant

Position: Regulatory Accountant

This is a permanent position and the salary will be $17,000.00. neg.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the co-ordination and preparation of the Nationwide Insurance Company Limited annual financial statements, monthly management reports and supporting accounting records as well as the company's Trinidad operations and its subsidiaries’ regulatory reporting requirements.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manages the performance of direct reports while facilitating their growth and development through training, mentorship, and coaching.
2. Prepares quarterly and annual regulatory reporting to the company nationwide.
3. Manages the accounting entries into the general ledger for tax and VAT for the company and Nationwide and USL.
4. Supervises the Assistant Accountant responsible for assisting with regulatory matters.
5. Prepares annual tax computation and return.
6. Calculates and arranges payment of VAT and file VAT declaration for the company, Nationwide.
7. Arrange for application of VAT and Tax clearance certificates.
8. Calculates and pays quarterly corporation tax installments for the company and Nationwide.
9. Manages the audit of regulatory returns for the company.
10. Assists consultants with annual tax return computation for the company.
11. Performs any other related duties and handles special projects as may be requested by management.

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related discipline
• A recognized accounting designation e.g. ACCA, CGA, CPA
• At least three years post-qualification experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity
• Literacy and proficiency in the use of various types of accounting and spreadsheet software
• Knowledge of Regulatory Framework would be considered an asset
• A high level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• The ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-oriented environment
