Receivable & General Accounting Officer

Kingston Logistics Center Limited, a leading player in the shipping and logistics industry in Jamaica, is looking for a talented and experienced Receivable & General Accounting Officer to join our “Faster, Easier, Smarter” KLC team. The Receivable & General Accounting Officer will play a key role in the Accounts Department and will be responsible for preparing financial reports and maintaining records of assets, liabilities, revenue and expenditure, payments, receivables and other financial activities. This position requires excellent time management, paying attention to details and problem resolution skills.

Responsibilities:

 

Supervise the functions of the accounting & reporting team.

• Review and approve journal entries, preparing monthly closing and financial reports,

• Preparing month end bank reconciliations.

• Conduct month-end close activities including the set up and release of accruals and prepayments.

• Perform bank upload transaction in the bank and bank support documents for approval.

• Prepare quarterly accounts receivable confirmation and report to head office.

• Prepare and send monthly sample invoice to head office for review.

• Prepare and send EOM report to Chief Accountant for review

• Review and send weekly liquidity forecast to head office.

• Perform general ledger analysis and reporting tasks.

• Prepare requisite balance sheet reconciliations.

• Prepare requisite monthly GL adjusting entries.

• Identify and communicate process problems arising from performance and analysis. Provide recommendations and assist with implementation.

• Ensure all expenses including petty cash disbursement are within budget and verify the completeness of all required supporting documentation for all payments.

• Review and approve all sales and purchase invoices in Advantum Financial.

• Ensure accounts receivable and payable activities are performed accurately and timely.

• Prepare the requisite audit schedule in support of the annual financial audit.

• Ensure that all requisite accounting activities are included on the monthly checklist.

• Ensure that all activities outlined on the monthly checklist are done by or before the due date.

• Ensure that directs reports are updated on the monthly checklist continuously and immediately after completion of assigned task.

• Perform monthly GCT computation, file return, post monthly GCT entries and ensure GL is accurate.

• Ensure timely settlements of all tax liabilities.

• Provide assistance to the Chief Accountant on all accounting activities and ad hoc requests.

• Complete all assigned activities on monthly checklist by or before due date.

• Support staff development and coaching by conducting and documenting monthly one on one meetings with direct reports and escalate any issues arose to Chief Accountant.

• Ensure proper and complete documentation and filing for easy retrieval of all accounting related documents.

• Prepare performance appraisal for all direct reports according to performance objective documents and submit them to the Chief Accountant for review & approval. Requirements:

• Degree in Accounting or Management Studies with an Accounting Major or equivalent qualification.

• A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience, preferably working in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of SAP or other accounting software.

• Willing to work overtime.

• Knowledgeable of Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Experience in financial accounting preferred
