The Real Estate Board and Commission of Strata Corporations
The Real Estate Board is the government regulator of the private real estate sector in Jamaica. It does so with the aim of ensuring that professionals maintain a high standard of professionalism and integrity in the industry.
The functions of the Real Estate Board, according to the Real Estate (Dealers and Developers) Act, are to regulate and control the practice of real estate business, as well as the development of private lands.
The Board also considers and determines applications for registration and renewal as real estate dealers and salesmen; and monitors real estate developers/developments.
The Commission of Strata Corporations registers, monitors, regulates and supervises Strata Corporations. It also keeps a register of such corporations, and facilitates dispute resolutions, consider complaints and enforce by-laws of Corporations.
