Radiographer
Main Purpose of the Job
The radiographer is responsible for operating diagnostic imaging equipment like the CT scanner and X-ray to examine patients for an illness or injury based on requests from the physician. They are responsible for the proper handling and maintenance of the radiography equipment, ensuring safety of the patients and providing support to the patients and other medical providers regarding diagnostic imaging.
Key Responsibilities - Major Tasks and Responsibilities
Operation/Maintenance of Xray and CT scan
- Operate complex medical instruments such as CT scanners, X-ray, with minimal supervision and without errors.
- Regularly inspect diagnostic equipment to ensure they are functional and operate efficiently
- Oversee and manage the routine maintenance of the diagnostic imaging equipment in line with the approved maintenance plan
- Interpret the instructions from the physicians regarding scan and X rays to be done with minimal supervision and without errors.
- Correctly position patients prior to X-ray imaging to obtain high quality films
- Use portable devices to conduct diagnostic scans on patients who can’t move to the radiology unit.
- Manage the vendors and service providers for the equipment
Ensuring Patient safety
- Adjust diagnostic equipment to deliver accurate amount of radiation to patients
- Follow up on patients after treatment to track the progress of recovery and ensure patients show no signs of radiation side effect
- Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines to minimize risk of exposure to radiation
Providing Support to Patients
- Interact with patients to offer them psychological support and address their concerns regarding an imaging procedure
- Explain to patients and their family the details of a procedure and ways to manage possible side effects.
Providing support to the Medical Team
- Evaluate patients’ medical condition and history to determine most suitable radiographic technique for diagnosis as directed by the physician
- Direct and supervise the activities of radiography assistants and trainee radiographers
- Work closely with the Nursing and Medical Team to ensure that all protocols that need to be followed before, during and after the scans are done properly.
- Provide feedback to the Medical and Patient Services Team of any challenging issues or situations that may have arisen during the procedure.
Service Delivery & Administration
- Maintain proper records of patient details ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ensuring that reports from the imaging sessions are transmitted to the doctors and patients in a timely fashion in line with our service standards
- Ensure that any follow-up visits are scheduled appropriately and that the patient is informed of such visits, working closely with the Patient Services Team
- Ensure that patients are treated with courtesy and respect throughout the procedure in line with our service standards at Newtown Medical
- Ensure the physical environment of the Radiography Suite is convenient, neat, and patient-friendly
- Manage all supplies, clothing, beddings, and consumables relating to radiography procedures and ensure adequate stocking all year round.
- Provide periodic reports and updates to NMC’s management t in the prescribed format
Others
- Handle other professional duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Company’s management pursuant to our business strategy.

• Bachelors or Associate Degree in Radiography or Radiographic Technology
• Experience in carrying out X-rays and CT scans
• Basic Troubleshooting of the Equipment
• Radiographic Procedures and Frequently Asked Questions on Procedures

• Experience in using Hitachi CT scanners
