Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all aspects of the costs and contracts related to security projects, ensuring the financial viability and adherence to budget for ongoing and upcoming projects. The role will include collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, contractors, and clients to ensure successful and cost-effective project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation and Control: Prepare detailed cost estimates for security installations, system upgrades, and security infrastructure projects. Monitor ongoing costs and ensure the projects stay within budget.
  • Tendering and Procurement: Assist in the preparation of tender documents, evaluate bids, and liaise with suppliers and contractors to ensure competitive pricing and value for money.
  • Contract Management: Manage contractual agreements, including reviewing terms and conditions and ensuring compliance with Jamaican laws and industry standards.
  • Project Financial Reporting: Track and report on the financial progress of projects, including providing regular updates to senior management regarding project costs, profitability, and any financial discrepancies.
  • Budgeting and Cost Planning: Develop and maintain project budgets. Ensure that security services, products, and materials are acquired at optimal costs without compromising quality.
  • Site Visits and Inspections: Conduct site visits to assess project progress and ensure cost-effective use of resources. Liaise with project managers and engineers to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Value Engineering: Identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or safety. Provide recommendations on value engineering solutions.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential financial risks and recommend strategies for mitigating them to ensure the financial stability of each project.
  • Client Liaison: Work with clients to ensure they are kept informed on costs, progress, and any changes to project timelines or budgets.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and contractual obligations. Provide necessary financial and operational reports to senior management and clients.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional certification is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably within the construction or security services industry. Experience in managing security-related projects is an advantage.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of cost estimation, tendering, and contract management in a security services context. Familiarity with Jamaican laws and regulations governing contracts and security operations is desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel; experience with estimating software is an advantage
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized

Working Conditions:
