Quantity Surveyor

CHEC seeks a Quantity Surveyor at Mammee Bay to handle cost estimation, budgeting, and tender analysis. Must know Jamaican construction standards to ensure efficient, on-budget project delivery.

• Analyze project requirements, drawings, and specifications to calculate material, labor, and equipment costs.
• Develop detailed budgets aligned with Jamaican construction standards and market conditions.
• Provide accurate cost estimates considering building size, design complexity, and local sourcing.

• Prepare comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQ) to support tender evaluation.
• Assist in drafting tender documents and analyzing bids for compliance and cost competitiveness.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to assess, negotiate, and finalize bid pricing.

• Monitor and manage project expenditures to ensure adherence to approved budgets.
• Identify and resolve cost overruns promptly, maintaining compliance with local financial and construction standards.
• Manage scope and design changes, assessing cost implications and negotiating adjustments with contractors and suppliers.

• Evaluate the financial impact of project scope or design changes and ensure compliance with Jamaican regulations.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to finalize adjustments and update project budgets.

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

• Minimum 8 years of experience in quantity surveying, including at least two completed projects.
• Proven expertise in cost estimation, tender analysis, and project cost control within the Jamaican construction industry.

• Membership in the Jamaica Institute of Quantity Surveyors (JIQS) preferred; RICS certification is an asset.

• Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools, with experience in local cost databases and labor rates.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Jamaican building codes, procurement processes, and financial reporting standards.

• Exceptional analytical and negotiation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills in a multicultural environment.
