Main functions:
Ensure the sustained maintenance of an excellent Food Safety system at Scoops Unlimited Limited through inspection, testing, verification and validation.  

Technician Responsibilities (⅓):

Monitoring Responsibilities (⅔):

 

  • Do prep work for routine laboratory testing (Preparing media, wash up for testing, sterilization etc.).
  • Conducts routine laboratory tests and procedures; both microbiological and biochemical.
  • Sets up, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment in preparation for sample examination and for quality assurance records.
  • Maintain laboratory records and inventory for supplies and reagents.
  • Continuous improvement of laboratory testing techniques with new technologies through research and training.
  • Work to reinforce good manufacturing practices for the health and safety of our customers through accurate traceability.
  • Work along with the quality team assisting with quality related studies and full documentation of other relating projects.
  • Conducts Internal Food Safety Audits.
  • Assist with product development.
  • Document and report findings from experimental batches based on new ingredient etc.
  • Assess non-conforming products and materials and recommend for salvaging or disposal.
  • Validate finished products through sampling from the cold storage.

 

  • Perform daily sampling for laboratory testing.
  • Make sanitation/quality logs as instructed.
  • Reinforce sanitation procedures based on critical control point identified.
  • Reinforce food safety procedures and GMP’s.
  • Log incident report as it relates to quality and observe and evaluate returned products.
  • Supervise the daily sanitation of the factory according to schedule.
  • Liaise with the laboratory for sampling and for easy identification of issues found.
  • Log all information concerning garbage disposal, water treatment, pest treatment and hygiene services done.
  • Observe and log good/bad manufacturing practices of employees.
  • Coach staff within the factory regarding breaches and good manufacturing practices.

 

Working conditions:

  • A 40hours work week on a shift system with 1hour lunch.
  • Exposed to noisy, wet and cold surfaces inside and around the factory premises.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends and public holidays depending on the demand and supply.
  • Requires a lot of standing and lifting.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stoop, reach over, bend and twist.

Qualifications/Competence/Experiences:

  • Either BSc in Pure Sciences/Chemical Engineering with 1Yr experience / Diploma in Chemical Technology with 1yrs experience / Post-secondary program in pure sciences with at least 3yrs experience.
  • Must be proficient with microbiology and biochemical lab techniques.
  • Advance problem solving and analytical abilities and good organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient at research, documentation, spoken and written English Language.
  • Must be punctual, accurate, precise, reliable and flexible.
  • Ability to engage and influence employees at all levels.
  • Competent at training and control.
  • Sound knowledge of GMP.

Key Performance Indicator (KPI)

  1. Achieve 50% sampling and testing of products produced.
  2. Achieve 100% sampling and testing of products from DH retail locations.
  3. Monthly testing progress report (report by flavour.
  4. Root Cause activity within 5days operation, minimum 50% .
