We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of our construction projects, from initial estimates to final accounts.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General administrative duties.
  • Assisting with the tendering process.
  • Participating in contract reviews and presentations.
  • Maintaining various files and databases along with other methods of record keeping.
  • Preparation of claims and variations to contract.
  • Measurement and Preparation of subcontractor payment claims.
  • Preparation of the monthly executed work certificates along with supporting documents.
  • Planning and scheduling of various related project activities.
  • Any other relevant duties that may be assigned by the company's management.

 

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field
  • Master’s degree or professional certification is an advantage

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in the construction industry, including at least 2 years with a construction company

Technical & Industry Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, and cost estimation
  • Proficiency in contract negotiation and financial management
  • Expertise in planning, scheduling, and strategic organization

Skills & Competencies:

  • Analytical and critical thinking abilities to optimize project efficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication for stakeholder engagement
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to manage contracts and vendor relations
  • Ability to guide, train, and mentor junior staff
  • Highly organized with exceptional time management to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in computer applications relevant to project management and quantity surveying

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RICS accreditation or working towards it is a plus.
  • Experience in commercial construction projects.
  • Familiarity with Jamaican construction codes and procurement regulations.
