Job Summary: The Purchasing and Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing all aspects of purchasing, inventory, and logistics operations at NWT Enterprises Ltd. This pivotal role demands a highly analytical individual with an exceptional eye for detail and the foresight needed to manage long lead times, ensuring efficient and effective operations in a dynamic market environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demand Planning and Forecasting:
    • Analyze market trends and sales data to accurately forecast product demand.
    • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to anticipate upcoming promotions, manage contracted supplies, and prepare for seasonal demand spikes.
  • Supplier Management:
    • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on criteria of quality, cost, and delivery efficiency.
    • Negotiate contracts and maintain robust relationships with suppliers and shipping lines to ensure favorable terms.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and manage risks associated with suppliers.
  • Purchase Order Management:
    • Create and manage purchase orders, employing optimization techniques to meet inventory needs.
    • Monitor order statuses, addressing delays or issues, and ensuring stakeholders are kept informed.
    • Maintain compliance with all purchasing protocols and collaborate with the Accounts department for timely and accurate payments.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Oversee inventory levels to maintain optimal stock based on analysis of historical data and future projections.
    • Implement strategies for inventory reduction and manage surplus stocks effectively.
    • Conduct and analyze periodic stock checks using advanced inventory management software.
  • Logistics and Distribution:
    • Strategically plan and coordinate the logistics of incoming and outgoing shipments.
    • Foster strong partnerships with logistics providers to guarantee efficient and cost-effective delivery.
    • Proactively liaise with customs brokers to prevent delays in goods clearance.
    • Develop and maintain state-of-the-art tracking and information systems for transparency across the organization.
    • Regular communication with Sales and Marketing Teams.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Regularly report on purchasing costs, supplier performance, and inventory status.
    • Leverage data to enhance purchasing strategies and overall supply chain efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record in managing purchasing and logistics.
  • Proficient in using data analytical tools, such as Excel and Power BI, to analyze and interpret data.
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and strategically, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills.
