Our Used Car Sales Team is currently looking for a talented Purchasing Officer for Barbados who will be expected to appraise and source vehicles ensuring competitive pricing and profit margins are achieved in line with the overall business plan.

 

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

 

Vehicle Sourcing and Acquisition

  • Identifies and coordinates all opportunities to source and purchase used vehicles through trade-ins, private sellers, fleet companies and dealer networks.
  • Responsible for executing an efficient purchasing policy to achieve competitive pricing, maximize Gross Profit and other Key Performance Indicators.
  • Develops relationships with local suppliers, private sellers, and fleet companies to secure inventory.

Negotiation

  • Negotiates competitive pricing and effectively controls preparation costs to ensure optimal profit margins.

Market Analysis

  • Keeps abreast of market trends, best practices, vehicle values, demand and the competition in order to make informed purchasing decisions. 
  • Work closely with the sales team to determine the best-selling units and maximise the sale of acquired units.

Inventory Management

  • Ensure the dealership maintains a balanced and diverse vehicle inventory that meets customer demand.
  • Assists with resolving any minor complaints on used vehicles sold.
  • Oversees auctions on used vehicles.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle acquisitions and auction transactions.
  • Prepares reports as requested.
  • Attends and participates in meetings as requested.
  • Performs any other duties assigned from time to time by Management.

 

We'll make a match if you meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in automotive sales &/or dealership operations
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant purchasing experience would be an asset
  • An Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Marketing or other related qualification would be an asset
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships throughout the industry
  • Ability to work independently, make quick decisions and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver’s license
