The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Public Relations Officer, on contract.

The Public Relations Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication plans to enhance the public image and reputation of the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. This role involves creating engaging content, managing media relations, and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders and the general public to promote transparency and advocacy for child welfare.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Media Relations, Mass Communication or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public relations or corporate communications.
  • Experience in social media management, marketing or digital technology.

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies aligned with organizational goals and international best practices.

  • Cultivate relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure positive media coverage and manage media inquiries.
  • Write and distribute media releases, media kits, and other communications materials to enhance the Authority’s visibility and promote key initiatives.
  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment to proactively address issues and manage crisis communications.
  • Prepare speeches and presentations for the Executives of the Authority.
  • Organize media conferences, interviews, and media events to effectively communicate the Authority’s messages.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment of communication efforts with organizational objectives.
  • Maintain and update content on the Authority’s website and social media platforms to engage stakeholders and the public.
  • Plan and coordinate outreach programs, events, and campaigns to raise awareness about child protection and the Authority’s services.
  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and recommend adjustments to enhance outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in all communication activities.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required to successfully achieve this job function.
