Role Summary

Compass Solar is seeking an experienced Project Manager for our Commercial and Utility Scale Solar and Battery Energy Storage projects in the Bahamas and wider Caribbeans. The Project Manager will work hand in hand with the construction management, procurement, engineering, subcontractors, and other support staff. The position will provide overall leadership in safety, quality, time management and mentorship to the project team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day project management activities on BESS projects located in the Bahamas and wider Caribbeans.
  • Manage the financial health of projects and contract management.
  • Engage with subcontractors and various other project stakeholders as Compass Solar’s primary contact person.
  • Supply steady and reliable communication.
  • Facilitate clear communication of project requirements and expectations to ensure all project needs and internal administrative requirements are met.
  • Continually analyze various execution strategies and methods for value and efficiency
  • Exercise best judgment and discretion in the customary and regular management of the installation team to meet goals via appropriate allocation of workload, effectively managing resources and tracking goals with regards to safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding and training of new team members.
  • Provide professional career development and training for your team including but not limited to, weekly meetings, 1:1 coaching sessions, constructive reviews, supporting and promoting top talent into future leaders.
  • Represent Compass Solar in a professional and responsible manner when communicating with others both inside and outside the company.
  • Implement, monitor, and enforce adherence to quality and safety policies including onsite safety and quality audits.
  • Utilize daily reporting tools to ensure jobs are correctly categorized and take ownership of all of projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Coordinate the most cost-effective field installation process, construction methods and materials for all installation projects.
  • Collect feedback and work with leadership to address escalations from staff, subcontractors, and customers in order to maintain exceptional customer experience at all times.
  • Assist the General Manager as needed to maintain the integrity of existing systems.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated history of success in renewable energy or related field
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of integrity and organizational capacity to manage multiple projects.
  • A proven ability to provide efficient, timely, and reliable service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership, initiative, and accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities often across functional and operational lines.
  • Ability to contribute to an amicable working environment with other associates and employees.
  • Must always have a positive professional attitude and strong customer service skills.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of time management and organizational skills resulting in the ability to prioritize/manage multiple complex projects at various delivery stages.
  • Excellent PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Project, and Procore at an intermediate level.
  • Must have a “roll up your sleeves and let’s get the job done right” attitude.

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years related experience, technical emphasis on electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural principles and disciplines desired. It can be a combination of trade, education, and relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and BESS experience preferred.
  • Construction experience one year preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of safety and construction law and generally accepted business practices.
  • Must be a self-starter able to work independently.
  • Physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Must possess applicable license(s) and certification(s)

Job Types: Full-time

Supplemental pay types:

  • Performance Bonus based on KPI’s

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Nassau, The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Island. Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
