JOB TITLE:                          PROJECT MANAGER - CONSTRUCTION

JOB DESCRIPTION:          The Project Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all facets of the Company’s construction projects. This includes managing the building process, working closely with engineers, architects and all critical human resources to develop plans, establish timetables, and determine labor and material costs, thereby ensuring the project is completed on budget, within scope, schedule, quality and other benchmarks.

Must possess the ability to develop a comprehensive project plan, track the project’s progress within the ambit of the comprehensive plan, and maintain timely and accurate communication with all relevant stakeholders.

Preparing and submitting timely, detailed and precise status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues is required. Reports must be accurate, unambiguous, grammatically correct and professionally organized.       

The Project Manager must incorporate / create contingency plans in taking a proactive approach to risk management. The Project Manager has ultimate responsibility for his/her construction site and by extension WIHCON, to adhere to all health and safety standards that fall under his/her purview.

Managing the construction site’s overall efficiency while eliminating waste is a critical requirement of the Company and deliberate measures and standards must be enforced and maintained.

WORK HOURS:                  7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

WORK DAYS:                     Monday – Saturday

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Generally, ensure that the assigned project is executed using sound engineering principles; on a timely basis; within budget; to the requisite quality standards and safety;
  • Provide timely (monthly) project value/cost analysis and forecasting in the company’s prescribed format;
  • Provide efficient leadership and management of assigned project staff and contractors;
  • Ensure that internal and external communication necessary for the effective management of the project is handled on a timely basis;
  • Ensure that project documentation is properly coordinated and maintained;
  • Initiate and track material orders to ensure that they are procured on a timely basis and to the required specifications;
  • Ensure that personnel and industrial relationship functions are conducted in accordance with the company’s policy;
  • Maintain relationships with key industry players, critical stakeholders and joint venture partners
  • Draft contracts highlighting all terms and requirements for a project
  • Assist in dispute resolutions, negotiation, arbitration or litigation, as needed;
  • Negotiate prices and other contractual terms contract with the contractors in order to achieve the satisfaction of both parties
  • Perform other functions directly relating to and necessary for the successful completion of the project, and those that maybe assigned by GM or his appointee from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Knowledge & understanding of Civil or Construction Engineering, Construction Management and Contract Administration
  • Possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong work ethics, organized, excellent leadership abilities combined with excellent written and oral communication
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent Budgeting and project management skills
  • Expert computer skills, specifically in MS Projects and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Projects, PowerPoint etc).

 EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Project Management
  • Postgraduate Degree in Business Administration, Construction Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum Ten years of Experience in Construction Management
  • Minimum Five years of Experience as a Project Manager
