Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Group Project Management Office team in the capacity of:

Project Accountant

Provide valuable insights on the financial viability of key strategic projects, creates forecasts, and tracks performance to inform and guide further business decision making.

Location: Kingston

As a Project Accountant, you will:

• Manage all aspects of project accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Review audit requests and compiles project financial information for internal and external auditors.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting reports to inform sound budget decisions based on past performance, budgets and forecasts.
• Review business cases, project plans, contracts/agreements and statement of works to identify and make recommendations on project expenses and their classifications/treatment.
• Collaborate with Executives, Project Sponsors, Project Management and Corporate Strategy Office to review and provide timely feedback and/or input for business cases and opportunities.
• Schedule and coordinate meetings regarding the creation and submission of annual departmental budgets.
• Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

What do you need?

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognized tertiary institution.
• A minimum of five (5) years working experience in the Finance and Accounting discipline.
• Proven working experience in auditing.
• Professional certification from an accredited body, such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, would be an asset.
• Working experience in project management would be an asset.
• Working experience in preparing and interpreting various financial reports.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced proficiency in managing general ledgers, accounts reconciliations, accounts payables and exceptional ability to prepare budgets.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Excellent human relations skills.
• Sound knowledge of office productivity tools including word processing and spreadsheet computer software applications
