The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Programme Coordinator, on contract.

The Programme Coordinator for Extracurricular and Vocational Activities is responsible for designing, coordinating, and executing dynamic, results-driven programs aimed at enhancing the personal, social, and vocational development of children within the facility. This role requires a high level of technical expertise in program management, stakeholder collaboration, and youth development, ensuring that all activities are engaging, accessible, and aligned with the children's developmental needs. The Programme Coordinator will work cross-functionally with staff, community partners, and external stakeholders to create an environment that supports youth growth, empowerment, and skill-building.

The Programme Coordinator for Extracurricular and Vocational Activities will report directly to the Reception Centre Manager but shall also be required to liaise with the Team Lead within the Centre.  He/she will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of extracurricular and vocational programs within the facility. The role involves overseeing both the day-to-day delivery of activities as well as the future development of new initiatives aimed at youth empowerment.

This position requires a proactive, results-oriented individual with a deep commitment to youth development and program excellence. The Programme Coordinator will be expected to balance multiple priorities while ensuring that all activities are aligned with the broader organizational mission and goals.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Recreation Management or a related field.
  • Train the Trainer Certification or equivalent will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of four (4) to six (6) years of professional experience in program coordination, with a focus on extracurricular, vocational, or youth development programs.

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

Development & Implementation

  • Design, develop, and implement tailored extracurricular and vocational programs based on comprehensive needs assessments and youth development frameworks.
  • Integrate evidence-based methodologies to create programs that enhance personal, social, and vocational skills in line with the developmental stages of children.

Activity Coordination & Scheduling

  • Coordinate a wide range of activities, workshops, and vocational training sessions that promote skill acquisition, career readiness, and personal growth.
  • Utilize project management tools to schedule and track activities, ensuring smooth execution and minimal disruption.

Stakeholder & Partner Collaboration

  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with local community organizations, vocational trainers, and businesses to provide valuable resources, expertise, and real-world experience.
  • Foster and manage collaborative relationships with external stakeholders to expand program offerings and ensure alignment with community needs.

Participant Engagement & Communication

  • Build positive, trust-based relationships with parents, guardians, and caregivers to ensure consistent support and active participation in program activities.
  • Develop and execute targeted communication strategies to raise awareness of programs and drive engagement through digital platforms, newsletters, and community outreach.

Program Facilitation & Monitoring

  • Facilitate and supervise program activities, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
  • Implement risk management protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of participants during all activities.

Staff Supervision & Capacity Building

  • Supervise and provide coaching to program staff and volunteers, ensuring adherence to program goals, organizational standards, and best practices in youth engagement.
  • Deliver ongoing training and development programs to enhance team skills and optimize program delivery.

Program Evaluation & Reporting

  • Regularly assess program effectiveness through participant feedback, surveys, and outcome measurement techniques such as impact assessments and skill development tracking.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on program performance, highlighting key outcomes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Budget Management & Resource Allocation

  • Assist in the development and management of budgets for extracurricular and vocational programs, ensuring cost-efficiency and optimal resource allocation.
  • Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining program quality.

Community Engagement & Event Coordination

  • Organize and facilitate community events to showcase participant achievements, celebrate milestones, and promote program success stories.
  • Leverage community partnerships to generate support and resources for future program enhancements.

Training & Staff Development

  • Provide targeted training for staff and volunteers involved in program execution to ensure the highest standard of delivery.
  • Mentor team members and foster a learning culture that drives continuous improvement in program effectiveness.

Other Duties

  • Perform any other tasks as delegated by the Reception Centre Manager or Team Lead assigned to support the overall success of the programs and organizational objectives
