The Production Shift Coordinator oversees and supervises all production activities during their assigned shift to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

The Production Shift Coordinator oversees and supervises all production activities during their assigned shift to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This role involves coordinating the efforts of production staff, managing workflow, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the shift.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production Coordination:

  • Ensure production schedules are met and production targets are achieved.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
  • Coordinate with other shifts and departments to ensure smooth handovers and continuity of operations.
  • Coordinate production startups, shutdowns and changeovers, updating Production Manager, whrre necessary

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure products meet quality specifications.
  • Address any quality issues or defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Equipment and Maintenance:

  • Report and document equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with the maintenance team.
  • Ensure that equipment is used properly and maintained according to guidelines.

Problem-Solving:

  • Identify and resolve production issues or bottlenecks in a timely manner.
  • Implement solutions to improve processes and productivity.
  • Facilitate troubleshooting and problem resolution with team members.

Supervision:

  • Supervise and motivate production staff during the shift.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members in line with their job description and department / unit
  • Monitor performance and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Intervene and document employee issues and notify Production Manager on any IR related concerns which require disciplinary action
  • Participate in recommending and implementing ideas geared towards continuous plant improvement.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct safety training and briefings for staff, inclusive of Toolbox Talks
  • Document any incidents or accidents which occur on the shift
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, and legal requirements.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with team members and management.
  • Prepare shift reports, such as Plant Efficiency report and Daily production sheets. as per our quality management system
  • Participate in shift handover meetings to relay important information and updates.                                                                                                                   

Other:

  • Assist in monthly/annual stock taking as needed
  • Comply with all Policies and procedures
  • Any other duties as required
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Bachelors in Engineering
  WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Production Plant environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Experience in a unionized environment with knowledge of industrial relations
  • Knowledge of OSH requirements and Quality procedures
  • Excellent supervisory, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent reporting skills
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • Proactive and results-oriented
  • Ability to supervise large and diverse teams
  • Ability to mediate and de-escalate conflict situations
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical practices.
