Production Planner

The Production Planner is responsible for creating the master production schedules and the detailed production plans for the manufacturing company. The production planner must facilitate the alignment of forecasts.

Job Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for creating the master production schedules and the detailed production plans for the manufacturing company. The production planner must facilitate the alignment of forecasts with budgeted sales, operational and financial plans in conjunction with Finance, Operations and Sales and Marketing. The Production Planner must also analyze sales and inventory trends to continuously improve master data, inventory policies and materials requirements through the ERP system.

Job Responsibilities

• The Production Planner is responsible for creating the master production schedules (unconstrained plans i.e.  total requirement) and the detailed production plans (constrained plans i.e. feasible production) for the manufacturing company.
• The Production Planner must also analyse sales and inventory trends to continuously improve master data, inventory policies and materials requirements through the ERP system.
• The Production Planner must understand how to improve working capital and inventory turns, reduce inventory provisions for materials loss and be able to assess upcoming raw material or packaging risks to supplying in full manufactured products.
• The production planner must facilitate the alignment of company forecasts with budgeted sales, operational and financial plans in conjunction with Finance, Operations and Sales and Marketing.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

• Degree in Supply chain / Logistics / Finance / Mathematics & Statistics / Engineering / Business or a related field.
• Experience in Material Requirement Planning and Forecasting Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Experience in Supply Chain / Logistics, experience with MRP Software would be an asset.
• Strong IT skills; ability to use the computer and business-related applications (MS office)
• Ability to work under pressure and still produce result
• Ability to be flexible
• Ability to analyze and execute in a fast paced and time sensitive environment
