Job Summary

The Production Manager has responsibility for managing the production processes of blending, bottling and packaging of purified water, carbonated and noncarbonated beverages. The incumbent is required to operate with a view to meet the company’s overall strategy and goals.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide information to team members about developments within the company and department
  • Monitor production checking for compliance with established quality and quantity standards
  • Produce at monthly average machine efficiency above 80%
  • Zero defective products are shipped
  • Account for production in the assigned areas of responsibility with transfer accuracy of over 99%
  • Provide a monthly account for all materials received and report on variances   
  • Report on all areas of responsibility within one week and present monthly reports on operational areas where applicable
  • Maintain and update electronic and manual records for documents related to Machine Changeovers, Standard
  • Operating Procedures (SOPs), training sessions etc.
  • Meet on average 98% of planned production unless unavoidable issues exists such as unavailability of material, electricity or acts of god
  • Manage HR related duties to ensure maximum productivity
  • Plan and produce with the aim of minimizing the unavailability of finished goods
  • Continuously update operational manual to meet ISO 9001 standards and to ensure they are followed
  • Ensure safety and occupational health procedures and support the Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems and the Environmental Management Systems in accordance with the following International Standards: Occupational Health and Environment, Quality Management Systems and Food Safety respectively
  • Maintain working environment according to GMP Housekeeping Standards 
  • Any other duty as may be assigned within the scope of the job

 

JOB SPECIFICATION/COMPETENCIES [Minimum]

Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least seven (7) years’ experience in a manufacturing plant  and at least four (4) years  at the management level
  • Effective communication skills – written and verbal including the preparation of reports and presentations with the ability to communicate with varying staff levels
  • Highly proficient in the use of MS Office productivity tools and plant manufacturing systems
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities
  • Meticulous, with the ability to work on own initiative within a demanding environment
  • Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving abilities
  • Possess a good understanding of all applicable Food Safety, Quality, Environment, Health and Safety laws and regulations and their impact on company policies
  • Demonstrable knowledge of all pertinent food safety, quality, health, safety, environment requirements, and plant hazards.
