Production Engineer

PRODUCTION ENGINEER

Reports to: Production Manager

 

Accountabilities:

• Accountable for project management and reporting of updates of numerical well/ reservoir simulation and/or other analytical well/ reservoir models to describe the performance, and forecasting, of oil and gas wells & reservoirs.

• Developing and evaluating supplemental recovery concepts (water injection, gas/CO2 injection) for unconventional resources, determining key uncertainties & developing plans for assessing them (including design and AFEs for pilots/field tests).

• Effectively communicating with management, reservoir characterization teams, engineering teams, operations teams, and other stake holders.

• MoC preparation/SPA/scope of works.

• Pre/Post-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR).

• Work Requests when necessary.

 

Responsibilities:

• Conduct well surveillance and EBS (Exception Based Surveillance) reviews of production from wells.

• Develop procedures to monitor and control sand production.

• Monitor and affect optimization of lease profit and loss.

• Allocate production to each producing wells and produce reports as required by MEEI and other regulatory agencies.

• Conduct production monitoring and production well modelling as required to maintain/optimize well production, including modelling of pipeline performance, completion performance, development of IPR curves and performing techniques such as nodal analysis and integrated asset modelling.

• Provide 'boots on the ground' support of producing well problems to gather failure data and ensure appropriate interventions are required.

• Collaborate with Reliability Engineers and Process Engineers to optimize production, production capacity and manage/reduce production constraints.

• Conduct well failure analysis (outside of tubing) and secure support as appropriate from the reliability organization (i.e.,RCA, etc.). Confirm implementation and effectiveness of RCA countermeasures.

• Work with Completions and Reliability Engineers to review and improve standards for well equipment.

• Provide input to economic analysis to support production optimization measures including well interventions, well operating envelopes, procedures, and integrity management processes/measures.

• Provide engineering oversight and guidance of monitoring, management and remediation measures for downhole and topsides flow assurance issues (e.g. corrosion, hydrate, scale, waxes, paraffins, asphaltenes) including chemical treatment and well interventions.

• Develop well intervention/workover procedure/scope development (e.g., frac, cleanouts, re-perf, acid wash, recompletion, conformance control, regulatory).

• Support and ensure handovers to and from Completions, Well Servicing and Reliability Engineering organizations, are done in accordance with business rules.

• Participate with teams to support operations activities such as process unit alarm management defect elimination, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), HAZOPS, Management of Change (MOC) and Pre/Post-Start Up Safety Review (PSSR).

• Develop and/or support development of well downtime/uptime/availability reports.

• Monitor/model/assure well flow assurance (e.g., paraffin, corrosion control, scale control, etc.).

• Develop long and short-term production forecasts in support of business needs including 30-60-90-day forecast, deferral analysis and annual forecasts. Apply Production Engineering practices such as decline curve analysis.

• Provide support to development of capital (capex) and operating costs (Opex) budgets for wells and wellsite facilities in your area of responsibility. Collaborate with other disciplines as required.

• Collaborate with Process and Subsurface engineer(s) on surface/subsurface metering functional specifications for production monitoring.

• Align with contractors to reduce cost and promote continuous improvement.

• Other duties as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

• Ten (10) years minimum oil and gas engineering experience required with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or equivalent

• Demonstrated experience in reservoir engineering.

• Ability to conduct detailed reservoir evaluations and studies.

• Ability to accurately describe and solve problems.

• Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, external contractors and associates, other departments, officials, and the public.

• Ability to complete, multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities through effective time management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner.

 

Capabilities, Systems, Competence:

• Ability to integrate data from different sources into models.

• Excellent administrative and organization skills

• Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:

O Required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), Nodal analysis, and public data retrieval.

O Preferred: Prosper, GAP, Multiflash.

• Compliance Management and Subject Matter Expert on CLIENT’s OMS & AOM.

• Applicable Codes, Standards and Safe Work Practices.

• Interfaces and Key Meetings:

O Prepare for, and host, monthly meetings to review well performance and conduct live monitoring of data remotely.

• Manage interfaces with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Management.

•Participate in risk assessments, walkdowns and other meetings as required.
