Overview
The Production Controller’s role exists to manage the labour, productivity, quality control, and safety measures as established and set for the company.
Role Summary
The Production Controller oversees and coordinates the production process of the manufacturing facility and has responsibility for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling the flow of materials, labour, equipment, and quality standards throughout the production cycle. They also communicate with other functional areas such as engineering, purchasing, sales, and logistics, to ensure that the production goals and customer requirements are met.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures that all processes are documented for both warehouse and production operations including quality assurance and associated records.
- Implements all operational and production processes and procedures, leading to productivity improvements for all SKUs.
- Monitors costs of Production, Maintenance and Distribution activity.
- Ensures that the plant, machinery, and buildings are suitable for the needs of the Company’s operations and are properly maintained; implements a structured maintenance programme.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Ensures that staff are adequately trained, and the HACCP Policy is followed.
- Ensures that the production is planned and executed in the most efficient and effective manner given the resources available to meet Sales Demand.
- Conducts monthly stock counts to ensure actual stock coincide with company records and investigate discrepancies and variances in the stock.
- Monitors the status of all orders and inform relevant parties when supply problems are anticipated and take action as necessary.
- Ensures proper recruitment and training of staff within the departments of Production, Maintenance and Distribution. Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions
- Ensures that a monthly and weekly production plan is generated and implemented by the Production Supervisors and provide a weekly Operations Report.
- Analyses and improves organizational process and workflow, employee and space requirements, and equipment layout; implement changes.
- Responsible for all department managers and supervisors, with review/approval responsibility for all operations employees.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of production process.
- Exposure to quality processes such as HACCP or similar.
- Experience of managing employees preferred.
- Good IT skills with emphasis on Excel and Word.
- Role would suit current progressive production supervisor or smaller company production manager.
