Process Plant Operator Trainees (PPO)

 Point Lisas Nitrogen Limited invites applications from interested persons to fill the aforementioned positions within its Operations Department

Accountabilities:

The selected candidates will undergo a two (2) year training programme within a supportive learning environment.

The PPO Trainees will undergo two phases of training:

Phase 1: Six (6) months of theoretical, classroom and shift-based training, to provide an introduction to the academics of an ammonia manufacturing system. Upon successful completion of this phase, trainees would advance to field-based training under the guidance of assigned trainers.

Phase 2: Eighteen (18) months of practical training delivered via rotating shift assignments.  Topics will be based on Standard Operating procedures and will include Plant start-up; shut down, emergency procedures and exposure to operating peripheral processes; and related equipment. PPO Trainees will also be taught to conduct surveys that include Plant performance, safety and function testing. Additionally, training will be provided to prepare the candidate to function as a member of the Plant’s Emergency Response Team.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• A National Engineering Technician’s Diploma (NETD) in Mechanical, Electrical, Utilities Engineering or Process Operations certification from the University of Trinidad & Tobago, or an accredited, well-recognized institution. Preference would be given to candidates who attained a GPA of 3.0 and above.
• Five GCE/CXC/CSEC passes including Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry and Physics.
• Preference will be given to candidates with CAPE passes in Physics or Chemistry grades (1 or 2)
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ethical standards and ability to work in cross functional teams.
• Ability to multi-task in a dynamic and result oriented environment
• Ability to work in confined spaces and on heights when required
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally
• Proficient in Microsoft office.

Applicants must include a detailed listing of their subjects attained at Ordinary and Advanced Level and Tertiary education showing the grades achieved. Copies of certificates should be submitted.
