JOB PURPOSE The Process Engineer III is accountable for screening, prioritizing, and progressing Project concepts that are safe, robust with respect to technical and commercial risks, protects/creates value for the Business.

JOB PURPOSE

The Process Engineer III is accountable for screening, prioritizing, and progressing Project concepts that are safe, robust with respect to technical and commercial risks, protects/creates value for the Business and enables a pathway towards pacesetter performance in GHG emissions.

This role requires innovating, an agile mindset, working and making decisions under uncertain conditions, learning, and trying new ideas/technologies, leveraging industry solutions, operating across department boundaries, and building strong partnerships with other stakeholders to help shape a competitive sustainable future for Atlantic’s business.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop/Review Process Engineering deliverables, but not limited to Basis of Designs, Equipment datasheets, P&IDs, PFDs, Heat and Material balances, AIV/FIV screening per Energy Institute Guidelines, calculations for Gas Pre-treatment Equipment, Relief Systems, control valve sizing and piping hydraulics.
  2. Develop/review Class II/III estimates and level 2/3 schedules for Select & Define Stage capital projects
  3. Lead/ participate in the tendering of Master Services Agreement (MSA) Contract for Engineering services and execution of technical services within the contract terms.
  4. Performance manages project milestones, cost, schedule, and risk for each project and facilitates reporting weekly/monthly/quarterly both within the organization and externally.
  5. Comply with all Project Governance requirements defined in the Atlantic Value Process (AVP).
  6. Facilitate/participate in the IPA FEL toolbox assessment to assure Project Stage Gate readiness.
  7. Lead/Support the development and seeks endorsement of the Engineering & Projects Five (5) year CAPEX Projects portfolio.
  8. Lead the annual development and implementation of the Five (5) year Carbon Abatement Plan that demonstrates a pathway to a sustainable lower carbon future for the Atlantic.
  9. Drive Studies for developing a Low Carbon Pathway/ Top Quartile status for Atlantic
  10. Proficient in the use of HYSYS (able to build steady state models and use these to carry out various assessments; make updates to existing dynamic models used for overpressure evaluations/assessments; process safety time calculations).
  11. Provide technical expertise and support on operating systems design, control strategy for operating plants and plant equipment failures in general by participating in Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFAs) and Incident Investigations.
  12. Manage design and construction contractors to ensure that work is carried out in accordance with the technical requirements and ensures compliance to Atlantic’s Project Management processes as well as adherence to recognised and generally accepted good Engineering practices and safety regulations.
  13. Conduct process simulations utilizing differing conditions to investigate system steady state response to develop procedures to maintain safe operating conditions.
  14. Manage process system modifications and upgrades and formulates the design basis and technical scope of work.
  15. Provide the technical basis for close-out of relevant action items such as those from Investigations, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Insurance, Shareholder, Safety and Operational Integrity (S&OI) and other Audit items.
  16. Ensure cost effectiveness and provides guidance and quality assurance in the procurement of materials, equipment and services by using sound engineering practices and engineering standards and specifications.
  17. Facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) techniques such as Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), LOPA, What IF and simple checklists.
  18. Provide support to ensure that the requirements of the Operations readiness framework (Commissioning) is implemented where applicable.
  19. Resolve issues related to equipment performance including vendor guarantee and warranty matters.
  20. Ensure that all designs and modifications/alterations to Process Plant, Equipment and Systems are performed using accepted Engineering methods, standards and practices including the Atlantic Asset Integrity Management (AIM) Standard, Management of Change (MoC) procedure, Engineering Technical Practices (ETPs) and Site Technical Practices (STPs).
  21. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Process/Chemical Engineering from a recognised, accredited institution.
  • Professional qualification to at least one of the following: Certified by the Board of Engineering ofTrinidad and Tobago, a Professional Engineer (P.E.) US standard or Chartered Engineer (C.e.)UKstandard.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience with GHG emissions / Carbon Abatement work will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the design, operation and maintenance of Process Equipment and systems and the ability to perform Process Equipment specification, evaluation and selection.
  • Knowledge of plant maintenance philosophies and systems, Process Safety/Environmental.
  • Knowledge of Natural Gas/Processing Systems, Oil/Processing Systems, Utility Systems, Natural Gas Characterisation and Gas and Power.
  • Experience with Distributed Control System (DCS), expert control system and HYSYS.
  • Working knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) or Hazard Evaluation Techniques.
