To ensure the efficient operation of the Pro Shop from bookings to merchandise sales and the day-to-day satisfaction of all members, their guests, and visitors as well as assistance with all tournaments.

Job Title:

Pro Shop Attendant

 

Job Purpose:

The Pro Shop Attendant is responsible for the guest’s satisfaction while he/she is in the pro-shop. The highest level of professionalism is expected at all times. The Pro Shop must be presentable, clean and well organised to encourage sale of the products.

 

Job Summary:

To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Pro Shop from bookings, registering members, guests and visitors, cash handling of merchandise, maintenance of activities on range and availability of balls, day to day satisfaction of all members, guests and visitors as well as assistance with all tournaments. We expect you to exceed our guests' expectations and achieve maximum employment satisfaction while adhering to the standard of the Pro Shop at St. Andrews Golf Club. You are expected to display exceptional service at all times whilst encouraging increased sales of merchandise by having a thorough knowledge of what is located in the Pro Shop. You are the front-line staff and should inform management of items to be at discounted prices especially for repeated members.

 

Reports to:

Golf Operations Co-ordinator / Operations Manager.

 

Works closely with:

Management, Golf Pro, Accounts Department and Caddy Masters.

 

Hours of Work:

6-day flexible work week.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Pro Shop Attendant

  • Follow all the employment policies and procedures in the employment handbook.
  • Book Tee times reservations correctly and efficiently.
  • Check-in tee times and collect fees correctly.
  • Keep accurate records and track member rounds – Pay and Play and Members Guests etc.
  • Collect Membership Fees and advise members if they are in default.
  • Ensure only paid up members and guests are issued a check in slip and allowed to play.
  • Handle cash and enter unto the system provided. All cash must be accounted for.
  • Answer phones, direct calls and answer customer questions professionally.
  • Sell and suggestive sell/upsell products in the pro-shop.
  • Rent equipment as required by customers – power carts, pull carts, rental clubs. Fill out the forms accurately, you are responsible for the members belongings.
  • Enter Score Cards unto the system provided.
  • Record sales of Pro Lessons and accurately and record utilization of lessons unto system provided.
  • Inventory Management including placement of orders.
  • Receive inventory, count and sign off for receipt of inventory. Any discrepancies must be reported to the Accounting Department.
  • Responsible for Inventory Counts.
  • Create a professional friendly and clean pro-shop.
  • Work with Golf Operations Co-ordinator to ensure proper rotation of inventory and display. In the absence of such position, ensure the duties are fulfilled.
  • Communicate with the starter of guest’s status and other information.
  • Assist other team member duties as deemed necessary.
  • Assist with general office work as required.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and organized work environment.
  • Ensure that guest are greeted immediately and addressed by their name whenever possible, upon entering the pro shop.
  • Ensure that our guests are assisted with all their needs whilst in the pro shop.
  • Ensure that our guests meet the proper dress code.
  • Ensure that all inquiries and requests are met efficiently and professionally.
  • Ensure that complaints are dealt with in a pleasant manner and recorded.
  • Record and document any safety hazards or other important situations and report them to management.
  • Anticipate any problems or situations in the pro shop and take action before they become a problem.
  • Use the guidance of the Golf Professionals and Golf Operations Co-ordinator for daily duties and direction, or any problems that you are unable to solve yourself.
  • Attend all department meetings.

  • Our goal is to create an environment where every guest that visits the Pro Shop at SAGC will have an exceptional golf experience.
  • The Pro-shop Attendant is responsible for the guest’s satisfaction while he/she is in the pro-shop.
  • The highest level of professionalism is expected from our Pro-shop attendants.

 

Employment Standards:

 

  • Professionally attired at all times during your shift.
  • High standards of personal hygiene.
  • Ability to problem solve and ensure satisfaction.
  • Experience in sporting goods sales or apparel sale’s is an asset.
  • Experience in money transactions.
  • Good knowledge / understanding of the game of golf.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work early shifts and extended days for tournaments.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees, members of the club and the public. Ability to perform in a strong team environment.
  • Ability to uplift pro shop and suggest golf items needed or requested by members.
  • Maintain a clean and well organised Pro Shop.
  • Guest service oriented, dedicated, motivated, and enthusiastic.
  • Punctual and reliable at all times.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

 

  • Work involves sitting, standing and stooping.
  • Requires some physical work; lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 20 pounds.
  • Work environment involves outdoor activities, which require following basic safety precautions.
