Privacy Officer
The Privacy Officer is responsible for safeguarding the privacy and data protection practices across the University. He /She will be responsible for ensuring the protection and privacy of sensitive data, implementing, and maintaining security measures, and ensuring compliance with the Jamaica Data Protection Act (2020) and other applicable laws, regulations, and best practices. The job holder leads the privacy program, to ensure the University's commitment to protecting the privacy rights of students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
The successful candidate should possess:
- First Degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- In-depth knowledge of relevant privacy laws and regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and The Jamaican Data Protection Act (2020)
- Sound knowledge of data protection principles and privacy practices.
- Sound knowledge of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA)
- Two (2) years of experience in developing and implementing privacy policies procedures within a complex organization
