The Plant Electrician engages in repairing, adjusting, servicing, inspecting all electrical systems of Plant machinery and vehicles.
JOB SUMMARY
The Plant Electrician will engage in repairing, adjusting, servicing, inspecting all electrical systems of Plant machinery and vehicles.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
• The Plant Electrician reports to the Process Engineer and the Plant Manager.
INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
• Relates internally with Process Engineers, Plant Manager, Brewer and Plant Supervisors to co-ordinate work, obtain information and advice.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
1. Layout, assembles and installs wiring in Brewery buildings in accordance with blueprints, specifications, established practices and pertinent electrical codes.
2. Maintains and repairs electrical equipment and appliances.
3. Makes repairs to electrical motors, controllers, switchboard panels and lights.
4. Locates and corrects power failures and motor trouble on electrically operated machinery and apparatus.
5. Installs electrical additions and alterations to buildings as requested.
6. Performs other electrical and mechanical work in repairing and replacing parts, using standard and special electrical tools and equipment; operates volt meters, amp meters and specialized meters.
7. Maintains work records of maintenance and repair work.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• At least five (5) CXC/O ‘Level passes including Mathematics, Science and English
• Electrical Technician Diploma with at least three (2) years’ relevant experience in a similar industry OR
• Electrical Technician Certificate or equivalent with at least seven (4) years relevant work experience in a similar industry.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of basic Health and Safety principles.
• Knowledge of relevant software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrates clear understanding of departmental goals and objectives.
• Ability to conceptualize and develop creative solutions to problems.
• Ability to apply fundamental engineering concepts, theories and practices to resolve maintenance issues and execute work on plant equipment.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment to make quick, accurate and safe decisions in response to abnormal situations.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skill
• Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, supervisors, Engineers, Contractors etc
