Background

We are seeking to hire a skilled and knowledgeable Pizza Chef to play a key role in creating delicious and beautiful pizzas that will excite customers. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in all aspects of pizza making, including dough preparation, sauce creation, and pizza assembly. He or she will help to achieve and maintain high quality standards and great customer satisfaction.

Role Summary

The Pizza Chef will be required to use his or her initiative, creativity, and skill to create excellent pizzas. The aim is to exceed customers expectations and create an enthusiastic following with the goal of creating experiences that customers would be eager to share with their friends and family. The Pizza Chef must have a passion for pizza-making, pride in delivering excellence, and a drive to satisfy, thrill, and delight customers.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to produce diversified menus in accordance with the restaurant’s policy and vision.
• Ensure that food preparation is compliant with the organisation’s standards and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
• Prepare pizzas from the approved menu and pizzas that are consistent with custom orders.
• Make fresh sauces as required by demand.
• Properly wash and safely chop vegetables.
• Cut, slice and grill meats including chicken, ham, and beef.
• Portion and prepare food items in accordance with menu requirements.
• Monitor food stock and place orders to maintain optimum stock levels according to need.
• Use modern alternative ingredients including vegan cheese, gluten-free flour, among others.
• Cook appetizers including mozzarella sticks, pizza bites, garlic breads and salads, etc.
• Recommend new recipes and assist in updating menus.
• Maintain a clean workstation and a clean cooking station; sterilize equipment on an ongoing basis.
• Establish work schedules and organize the work in the kitchen in a manner that is conducive to and efficient operation.
• Consistently produce high quality pizzas that follow the established menu consistent with the approved standards and clients’ requirements.
• Play a lead role in recruiting appropriately talented chefs.
• Implement training programs to maintain the high standards of the location.
• Prepare frozen pizza.
• Perform any other related duties assigned by management.

 Requirements

• Previous work experience as a Pizza Chef or similar role in a restaurant.
• Hands-on experience with preparing and baking pizza doughs.
• Familiarity with professional kitchen equipment and brick or stone oven.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of food hygiene.
• Good time-management skills.
• Team management skills that develop and fosters good team spirit.
• Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and evenings.
• A good understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
• A Diploma from a culinary school would be a plus.
