Personnel Officer

Job Overview:

The Personnel Officer will serve in a critical administrative and people management function providing support to the training and development for employees and the recruiting, screening, and hiring of new staff/workers in accordance with Department policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist to Manage correspondences  regarding employment inquiries, review applications for employment or promotion, and interview job applicants and employees inquiring about promotion.
  • Supervise recruitment exercises and participates in job fairs as needed.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, conferences and training programs pertaining to the personnel administration area.
  • Organize orientation classes and diversity training sessions for new employees.
  • Maintain staff/worker contract procedures 
  • Provide and administer staff benefits
  • Administer skills profiling and other aptitude tests to employment candidates.
  • Assists with the development of performance evaluation criteria, job selection criteria techniques and procedures to enable the Division to effectively meet Co’s  objectives.
  • Ensure the company’s policies on absence control and authorised leave are maintained and reviewed from time to time

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Associates Degree in HR management or relevant field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a HR/personnel Department
  • Strong experience of operating personnel systems
  • Ability to communicate at different levels with employees and senior management leaders
  • Ability to work pro-actively and use own initiative
  • Ability to supervise staff
  • Well organised
  • Meeting deadlines
