Primary objective of the job: 

The Payroll Supervisor will oversee and supervise the organizations payroll functions, ensuring that pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Participate on recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new staff in the department
  • Ensure that payroll is processed timely and accurately
  • Review payroll calculations, deductions, insurance coverage, wage garnishments, tax filings, and child support
  • Maintains or oversees the maintenance of employee records
  • Address payroll related queries and requests from employees
  • Provide support in tax calculation and filing for employees
  • Ensures compliance with local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
  • Review and recommend improvements to existing payroll procedures
  • Analyse payroll problems and provide appropriate resolutions
  • Performs other payroll related duties assigned on a need-to basis
  • Oversee employee payroll accounting, transactions and reporting activities
  • Provide assistance as well as constructive and timely performance evaluations to direct reports
  • Handle discipline of employees in accordance with company policy
  • Adhere and enforce adherence to the payroll SOP

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required
  • 4+ years of experience in payroll processing required with two years in a supervisory or management role preferred

 

Functional Skills:

 

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with payroll software
