Paralegal

Barita Investments Limited is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to join their Group Legal & Compliance Department for a temporary i.e. 3-month assignment. The Paralegal will support legal operations by managing corporate profiles, filing important legal documents, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role involves close collaboration with various entities within the Cornerstone Group and provides an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organizational and legal support skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and update corporate profile spreadsheets for all entities within the Cornerstone Group.
  • Ensure timely receipt, filing, and organization of KYC/PQ documents for directors and senior officers to meet regulatory deadlines.
  • File annual returns with the Registrar of Companies for Barita Investments Limited, Cornerstone Trust & Merchant Bank Limited, and other related companies.
  • Act as the recording secretary for assigned committee meetings, ensuring timely submission of draft minutes.
  • Receive, record, and distribute all mail delivered to the department.
  • Implement and maintain efficient filing systems for all legal documents.
  • Submit documents for assessment, stamping, and registration with agencies such as the Stamp Office, Island Records Office, National Land Agency (NLA), Companies Office, and NSIPP.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Paralegal Certification, Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies, or Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies (an asset).
  • Working knowledge of legal processes related to investment banking transactions, including experience with the Stamp Office, Island Records Office, Companies Office, NLA, and NSIPP.
  • Experience with legal filing systems and document organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
