Job Summary: The Production Engineer supports Plant operations by providing engineering and project management expertise to ensure efficient production, meeting customer demand and operational requirements while adhering to company standards and HSSE and regulatory policies.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Supervise Operators and assigned staff, including planning work, communicating job expectations, monitoring performance, and appraising job results to ensure individual and department targets are met. 
  2. Troubleshoot process problems, takes necessary corrective action, and provides recommendations for re-engineering and improvement to plant equipment and processes to enhance plant efficiency, reliability and performance.   
  3. Monitor and manage all production processes to ensure that they are kept within standard operating procedures (SOP) and standard operating conditions and limits (SOCL). 
  4. Verify that quality control measures are maintained in all production areas, to uphold product standards. 
  5. Evaluate Plant economics to determine optimum operating efficiencies; and re-design/modify plant to improve process and reliability. 
  6. Contribute to the development of the annual departmental budget and submit recommendations on capital expenditure projects/upgrades to support operational efficiency and long-term growth. 
  7. Maintain records, including production logs (hard copies) and required entries on the Company’s ERP system (D365) and prepare monthly and daily reports for all production areas, to support data-driven decision-making and compliance.  
  8. Conduct safety inspection in production centre in accordance with regulatory standards to ensure compliance and minimize risk.  
  9. Conduct routine equipment function testing to minimize downtime and fulfil sales demand for finished product. 
  10. Manage raw materials, spare parts and finished goods stock and reconcile report within specified timeframe to support efficient production and inventory control.  
  11. Perform any other job duties as required by the job function.  

Qualifications and Experience

  1. BSc. Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering from a recognised institution.
  2. A minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment at a supervisory level.
  3. Adopts a whole systems perspective, assessing and balancing vast amounts of diverse information, identifies multiple relationships and disconnects processes to identify options and reach conclusions. Ability to think strategically and innovatively.  
  4. Uses individual as well as group goal setting to maximize performance. Challenges rules or practices that present inappropriate barriers to independent action and decision-making.   7. Enforces and upholds safety standards, ensuring compliance with Chlorine Institute Guidelines, ISO 9001, and OHSAS 18001 standards.

Helps others remain energized, focused, and productive in the face of ongoing or frequent situations involving high-level stress.
