SALARY SCALE: $2,186,996.23 - $2,483,397.08

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is part of the pilot boat crew responsible for ensuring that pilots and other personnel when required, are transported safely and efficiently to and from ships, berths, and anchorages. The incumbent also:

-Assists with handling/securing the pilot boats during mooring and unmooring

exercises.

-Provides assistance to the pilot(s) during embarking and disembarking

exercises.

-Assists the Coxswain in maintaining accurate record of the pilot boat operation

and maintenance.

-Carries out housekeeping and basic maintenance while on board.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Secondary School education with at least two GCE or CXC subjects.
• Holder of a Multipurpose Rating Certificate or Basic Safety Training Certificate.
• Minimum of 2 years practical working experience as a deckhand/multi-purpose seaman including boat handling skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspect vessel prior to departure and on return to pilot boat station.
• Carry out end of shift inspection and complete report.
• Assist in preparing vessel for pilot transportation and transfer.
• Carry out basic deck maintenance of the vessel and equipment on board.
• Load and unload material from the pilot boats.
• Assist with preparation and activities associated with the responding to disasters and emergencies.
• As directed, assist with the transfer of passengers to and from vessels.
• Any other duty assigned.
