PHLEBOTOMIST

Summary:

We require the services of a qualified candidate to fill the post of Phlebotomist.  The candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of duties involved in the collection of blood and other samples from patients for laboratory procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

 

 Core Functions:

  • Register patients using Laboratory Information System  and collects fees
  • Perform blood drawing procedures to include venipuncture
  • Make appointments and visit home patients and offices
  • Maintain inventory of supplies

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:      

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment with minimum supervision
  • Strong analytical, administrative and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computer application software
  • Very good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Flexibility and versatility to operate in a demanding environment
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work on Saturdays

 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate/ Diploma in  Phlebotomy
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in Phlebotomy
  • 5 CSEC passes including Mathematics and English Language
  • At least one (1) year supervisory experience

 

Special Requirements: Must be:

  • Flexible and willing to work on a shift basis
  • Available to work on Saturdays, when required
