To provide general orthopedic care to patients within the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre and Cockburn Town
3. RESPONSIBILITIES:
The post holder will do or cause to be done the activities below. These activities are not exhaustive and other duties which are within the realms of his/ her qualifications, experience and ability may be required.
1. Clinical 1.1. Attend to orthopedic in-patients 1.2. Attend to orthopedic out-patients via the Out Patient clinic 1.3. Provide orthopedic emergency coverage on an on-call basis 1.4. Schedule and perform orthopedic care within scope of practice on an elective basis 1.5. Provide evidence based patient care within acceptable regional/worldwide standards 1.6. Facilitate, where necessary, visiting surgeons 1.7. Assist colleagues in a collegiate manner where necessary 1.8. Advise and supervise the delivery of nursing care to the orthopedic patients 2. Administrative 2.1. Creation, Review & Maintenance of Policy & Procedures Partake with colleagues in the creation, review and maintenance of policies and procedures for the surgical department All existing policies/ procedures will be reviewed at periods set at the time of writing and, where changes in practices/ systems occur which affect the currency of the policies/ procedures, at the time of such change. Any changes will also be after due consultation with other stakeholders. 2.2. Adherence to Policy & Procedures Adhere to policies and procedures, or advise CMS of variance and reason for variance if it is felt that a variance is necessary for the best interests of patient/hospital 2.3 Assist the Operating Theatre team with the selection of equipment 3. Committees 3.1. Membership of Committees The post holder may be required to sit on committees either as a routine or as ad hoc requirements for investigative or other purposes 4. Quality and Best Practice The post holder will conform to any and all quality initiatives which may be present within the hospital and ensure quality and best practice within their work at all times. 5. Continuing Medical Education (CME) 5.1. The Program The postholder will attend CME sessions as required for maintenance of Medical license 5.2. Presentations The post holder will take part in the program by presenting a topic at least twice on an annual basis 6. Advisory The post holder will provide orthopedic advise and guidance to colleagues as requested. The post holder may also at times be required to provide surgical advise and guidance to CMS/CEO
