Optometrist Vacancy in Dominica 

Position:  Full-time Optometrist 

Vyve Eye Care Centre is a vibrant modern ambulatory eye care facility in Dominica. We are seeking a competent and dedicated Optometrist to be part of our practice. 

The Optometrist will function in a clinical capacity as well as help oversee the business of the Optical store. He/ she will work closely with other support staff as well as with the Ophthalmologist. 

Responsibilities: 

• Clinical examination of patients to determine refractive error and writing glasses prescriptions
• Prescribing and fitting of contact lenses, providing education on their care and use, and conducting aftercare follow-up appointments
• Screening for eye disease such as Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy and referral of such cases to on-site Ophthalmologist
• Preparing patients to see the Ophthalmologist (preliminary exam, medical history, and testing)
• Performing special testing such as Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Humphrey Visual Fields (HVF)
• Assisting with training of support staff
• Assisting with the management of the Optical store
• Providing advice to patients on lens type, coatings and tints, frames, and styling, and adjusting, fitting, and repairing spectacles
• Taking frame and facial measurements to ensure correct frame fit and positioning
• Placing orders with the Optical lab and checking lab orders on delivery to ensure that they meet the required specifications
• Educating and counseling clients on available products and services
• Taking responsibility for setting and meeting sales targets and practice growth
• Arranging and maintaining displays
• Maintaining stock levels
• Planning and administering business development goals, including marketing activities
• Keeping accurate patient and business records 

Key Qualifications and Experience: 

• BSc or Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree
• Excellent basic clinical skill in refraction, retinoscopy, contact lens prescribing and fitting and optical dispensing
• Good knowledge and experience performing ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT), Humphrey Visual Fields (HVFs), fundus photography, A- and B-scan biometry. 

Salary & Benefits: 

We offer competitive salary and benefits including three (3) weeks paid leave, gratuity, housing allowance and return flight. In addition, we will facilitate you obtaining a work permit in Dominica.
