J. Astaphan & Company Limited is seeking to recruit a responsible, team-oriented, personable individual to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Department Store. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail operations, leadership skills, and exceptional customer service.
JOB SUMMARY:
- Oversee daily operations to optimize sales growth and operational efficiency.
- Achieve strategic objectives through the development of plans, budgets, and effective resource allocation.
- Lead sales forecasting and set performance targets to drive results.
- Collaborate with the marketing department to enhance brand awareness and sales performance.
- Manage inventory using system reports and physical counts to ensure stock accuracy.
- Coordinate with department supervisors to align efforts with company goals.
- Ensure exceptional customer service by supervising team-customer interactions and addressing escalated issues.
- Supervise purchasing staff, ensuring efficient operations and providing necessary training.
- Negotiate favorable credit terms and conditions with suppliers.
- Monitor and process claims for damaged or defective products with suppliers.
- Collaborate with the General Operations Manager to implement competitive pricing strategies.
- Stay informed on market trends, competitor pricing, and products to effectively position the brand.
- Develop staff schedules and assign duties to ensure operational efficiency.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate supervisory staff performance.
- Perform additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting or equivalent
- Five plus [5+] years’ experience in a retail environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a focus on coaching and development
- Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions to enhance sales and operations
- Knowledge of OSHA laws and Health and Safety best practices
- Extensive knowledge of purchasing, sales, and inventory management
- Extensive knowledge of sales, inventory, and customer management preferably in a retail environment
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
- Ability to execute functions with minimum supervision.
- Excellent time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
