The Operating Technician will safely operate and monitor plant equipment, isolate and de-isolate plant equipment for maintenance activities, retrieve plant data and perform corrective actions when necessary to ensure the achievement of established corporate goals and commitments.
Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) owns and manages a major fuel-efficient 720-megawatt (MW) combined cycle power plant in Trinidad and Tobago. TGU is owned by the National Investment Fund, the latter is a wholly owned entity of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago (GoRTT).
This facility is located at the Union Industrial Estate, La Brea and supported by a corporate office in Chaguanas.
TGU is currently seeking to hire a suitably qualified person for the following position:
OPERATING TECHNICIAN
JOB PURPOSE
The Operating Technician will safely operate and monitor plant equipment, isolate and de-isolate plant equipment for maintenance activities, retrieve plant data and perform corrective actions when necessary to ensure the achievement of established corporate goals and commitments.
QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 5 O’Levels including Mathematics, English, Physics and Chemistry.
• Process Plant Operator Diploma (PPO), Mechanical Engineering Technician Diploma (MET) or Electrical Electronics Engineering Technician Diploma (EEET).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering will be an asset.
• Completion of TGU 2-year training program for Operating Technicians or a minimum of 3 years' experience as an operating technician in a power plant environment or a process plant environment.
