OPTOMETRIST

The company is seeking an experienced OPTOMETRIST, to work alongside the ophthalmology department. The ability to diagnose and refer pre-surgery, and the experience to assist with post-surgery would be a big advantage.

Vision Express is an independent Optical/ Optometry Company located on the beautiful, English Speaking Caribbean Island of St Lucia. The sister company V.E.Medical, also operates a full medical and surgical Ophthalmology Centre. 

 The company is seeking an experienced OPTOMETRIST, to work alongside the ophthalmology department.

The ability to diagnose and refer pre surgery, and the experience to assist with post surgery would be a big advantage.

The main areas relative to diagnosis and referral are:

• Cataract / Refractive lens Exchange / Glaucoma / Diabetic Retinopathy / Retinal detachment and Macula Holes  / Keratoconus. (Collagen cross linking) 
• A skill set which includes the use of all diagnostic equipment is essential 
• The following abilities, as well as comprehensive eye examinations are required
• IOL Calculation/ Cycloplegic  Refraction / Bernal Assessment / Contact lenses including Multifocal  and Scleral.
• Whilst all the above are a preferred experienced skill set , the normal routine eye examinations average 18/ 20 per day , and patients in St Lucia rely very much on the optometrists advice and enthusiasm, in the purchase of frame and lenses or contact lenses. The company has a full optical glazing lab. 
• The ability to relate to young and older patients,  and to patiently,  fully explain the outcome of any tests is essential. 
• An interest in other related fields such as myopia control , will be encouraged. 

The Vision Express and VE Medical are a large , friendly team  with five outlets on the island . One of the optical / optometry practices is inside the 9000 sq ft medical facility.

The company will arrange work permit and allied health licenses.
