OPERATING ROOM COORDINATOR

Salary range:  CI$81,252 to CI$109,296 per annum 

 

The Operating Room Coordinator organises and manages patient flow within the department, while also offering valuable support to the operating theatre staff.

 

Primary Responsibilities:  The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and organizing the daily and weekly surgery schedule, ensuring special needs are met for patients, physicians, and staff. They will make sound decisions to ensure timely patient care and availability of equipment and supplies for surgeries. The candidate also leads and influences others by promoting a safe and productive environment in the fast-paced surgical setting, collaborating with various departments, and maintaining good working relationships. The candidate provides nursing care, supervises staff in adhering to patient care standards, and handle unanticipated events professionally. The candidate maintains confidentiality, foster an environment of organizational learning, and actively participate in department budget management.

 

Qualification & Experience: The successful applicant must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and possess a minimum of three (3) years of recent nursing experience.  Additionally, the candidate should have at least two (2) years’ experience as an Operating Theatre Coordinator.  The successful candidate should have current licensure with a nursing board or council and have a certificate in Operating Theatre Techniques or equivalent.  A BLS/ACLS certificate, PALS or IV certification are desirable.  The candidate should have demonstrated ability to perform efficiently in high stress situations.  Must be proficient in the use of Windows applications and monitoring equipment such as volumetric infusion pumps and other equipment utilized in the department.
