The Night Auditor is responsible for clerical accounting and customer service functions of the Front Office on the night shift. The Job Holder ensures that the hotel maintains quality service on the night shift so that customers will rate the service favourable. The management also expects that the Job Holder effectively administers execute all the accounting transactions and service quality controls and provide the necessary reports at the end of the shift.
**CANDIDATE MUST BE ABLE TO WORK AT NIGHT**
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/EXPERTISE:
ü NVQ-J Level-4 Certification or equivalent, AAT level II in Hotel Accounting
ü At least two (2) years’ experience for mastering the demands of the functions. The experience ideally should be gained from a hotel or resort operation.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
ü Sound knowledge of Hotel Accounting
ü Guest Relations skills
ü Accounts Receivables skills
KEY DUTIES:
ü Provides the highest standard of service to guests and callers at all times
ü Ensures lobby and desk area are clean and presentable
ü Posts guest charges to guest accounts, compute guest bill and collect payment following proper guest-payment policies and procedures
ü Monitors room availability
ü Checks control sheets from previous shifts for accuracy and completeness
ü Completes outstanding sheets where necessary and record all discrepancies in keeping with established procedures; post balances to relevant file and generate required reports
ü Identifies, report and record any problems or violation of hotel policies discovered during the shift
ü Processes guest check in and out, cancellation and reservation requests efficiently, courteously and professionally
ü Responds promptly and effectively to guests’ enquiries and complaints
ü Informs management of any guest or systems related complaints or problems where necessary
ü Keeps housekeeping and maintenance informed of any reported problems in guest rooms or on hotel grounds
ü Operates the telephone system in keeping with standards of proper telephone etiquette
ü Offers and properly handle requests for wake-up calls
ü Reconciles all financial transactions executed on the preceding shifts
