Large Insurance Broker has Vacancy for: Network Administration
The Job:
The company operates one of the largest e-commerce sites in Jamaica. The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Company’s LAN/WAN, network segments, Internet, Email and Intranet systems; effective provisioning, `installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of all systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
Qualifications:
1. B.Sc. in computer science or a related discipline.
2. Microsoft/CISCO Professional Certification would be an asset
3. Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a system administer.
Major Duties:
- Troubleshoot problems reported by users and provide solutions using established response Protocols.
- Support 24/7 Help Desk
- Maintain network and system security, perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
- Maintain company e-commerce platform
- Contribute to product development and Platform upgrade with overseas consultants
- Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
- Maintain daily log of all systems malfunction and remedial action.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
1. Responsibilities require working beyond normal working hours with little advanced notice.
2. Travel to out-of-town locations required from time to time
