Job Summary: The incumbent is responsible for providing high network availability for Hawkeye’s staff/clients and to develop and implement projects in keeping with the department goals.

Job Summary:   Responsible for providing high network availability for Hawkeye’s staff/clients and to develop and implement projects in keeping with the department goals.

Support network data communications, digital voice and video infrastructure. Troubleshoot and configure network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, IPS and IDS. Liaise with vendors, third party professional services and ISP or carriers to resolve network related issues

Custodian of network devices, IP schema, network documentation and remote access services ensuring compliance to network availability and performance Service Level Agreements.

Responsibilities:

Main duties

           

  • Configuring and managing virtualized environments, including hosts, networking and storage resources using VMWARE.
  • Oversees and performs both routine and non-routine systems administration for daily operations of mission-critical production systems.
  •  Assists in developing and implementing technical support standards, controls and procedures.
  • Installs, configures and maintains, network systems and other related infrastructure such as Routers, Switches, firewalls and enterprise storage solutions such as Storage Area Networks and Direct Attached Storage Units.
  • Collects, analyse, and report operational data for use in maintenance, performance tuning, and capacity planning for future upgrades
  • Provides technical leadership to the IT Support members, including representing staff issues and accomplishments to management.
  • Maintains positive client relations through teaming with Help Desk to ensure that outstanding Service Requests are followed-up and resolved as quickly as possible.
  • Adheres to the agreed time-frames for the resolution all user requests, and Service Level Agreements.
  • Integrates complex hardware and software systems to create technologically current and robust environments that meet stated standards
  • Developing and maintaining backup jobs and backup schedules
  • Provides system management and Windows Administration functions, preventative maintenance, tuning and performance optimisation, patch applications, capacity planning and upgrades for PC systems under the direct responsibility of the division.
  • Visits all locations managed by Hawkeye to ensure that all computer and network equipment are properly maintained.
  • Identifies, researches, and masters new technologies related to services that comprise Hawkeye’s systems architecture, including audit/security, systems management, applications, and support, authentication and directory services
  • Maintains up-to-date network related manuals, procedures and other documentation.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned within the scope of the job.
