The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Network Administrator, on contract.

The Network Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the network infrastructure within the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (CATT). This role involves ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the network services and systems. The Network Administrator will work closely with the Enterprise ICT Manager to support network operations, troubleshoot issues, and implement network enhancements to support organizational goals.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in network administration or a similar role, with hands-on experience in managing network infrastructure.
  • Proven experience with network monitoring tools, firewalls, and security protocols.
  • Knowledge of PBX systems and call centres.
Desirous:
  • Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
  • CCNP will be considered an asset.

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Configure network hardware and software to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Monitor network performance and traffic to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Use network monitoring tools to ensure high availability and reliability of network services.
  • Provide technical support for network-related issues and perform troubleshooting to resolve connectivity problems.
  • Analyze network performance metrics and logs to identify potential problems and implement solutions.
  • Implement and maintain network security protocols to protect against unauthorized access and threats.
  • Regularly update and patch network equipment and systems to address vulnerabilities and enhance security.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and incidents.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on network performance, incidents, and system changes to the Enterprise ICT Manager.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades, including hardware replacements and software updates.
  • Optimize network performance by evaluating and implementing best practices and new technologies.
  • Assist users with network-related issues and provide training on network access and security best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training materials to ensure staff are knowledgeable about network systems and protocols.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff and departments on network-related projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of network infrastructure projects and enhancements.
  • Represent the ICT department at meetings, conferences, and other functions as required.
  • Monitor and maintain the Authority PBX system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Enterprise ICT Manager
