NURSERY MANAGER

The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing all managerial functions of the plant nursery, including training staff and ordering stock. He or she will also be responsible for the cultivation and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and flowers.

Specific Requirements/Duties of the Position Include:

• Managing all facets of the nursery, including propagation and all essential treatments to provide the highest possible quality plants and tree materials.
• Managing plant diseases and necessary chemicals for treatment.
• Managing irrigation and fertigation systems.
• Creating staff work rosters and delegating duties.
• Creating work schedules for employees and distributing responsibilities.

Qualification and Experience:

• First Degree Horticulture with emphasis on Plant Propagation/Nursery Management
• Five (5) years’ experience in a similar position
• PCA Pesticide Accreditation
• Experience in all forms of propagation and maintenance
• Vast knowledge of plants
• Ability to foster positive working relationships
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Competence inMicrosoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Driver’s licence and a motor vehicle
