The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist will develop, manage, and implement a quality monitoring and evaluation system to facilitate effective implementation of projects, assessment of project performance, and evaluation-readiness.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct assessment, collect baseline data and analyse results to influence the development of a quality monitoring and evaluation system;
  • Finalize the Design and Monitoring framework including desired output, outcome,  impact indicators, baselines and targets
  • Develop a detailed Results Monitoring Plan which clearly outlines the methods, sources, responsibilities and timelines for data collection.
  • Manage and implement the Results Monitoring Plan to track project implementation and measure the development achievements of the projects;
  • Prepare and populate suitable electronic templates/databases and information systems to facilitate the data collection, generation, and analysis;
  • Identify mechanisms for the local collection of data during project implementation;
  • Identify key risks, challenges or impediments and guide remedial actions to ensure that the objectives of the projects are achieved;
  • Prepare and submit reports on the progress and performance of projects;
  • Conduct workshops/coaching as needed with the Project Implementation Team, Project beneficiaries and other Stakeholders to enhance their monitoring and evaluation capacity.

Minimum Requirements for the Position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Agri-Engineering, Agri-Business or equivalent certification in a related field of study.   [Applicants with postgraduate certification will not be excluded];
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ working experience in the development arena with at least three (3) years in monitoring or evaluation of development assistance projects;  
  • Professional certification or specialized training in Monitoring and Evaluation;
  • Strong demonstrated ability in evidence-based research using qualitative and quantitative research methods;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Thorough attention to details;
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work on own initiative
  • Strong team spirit and interpersonal skills.
