Merchandise Supervisor

The successful candidate will assist with the execution of the planning and pricing strategies of the country Product Range while providing administrative support and market intelligence for the management of assigned categories, to optimize profitability.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Update Country and Branch Range plans with current stock information.
• Update product information including retail and promotional process as agreed on all relevant systems.
• Conduct branch visits to ensure branch locations reflect the brand merchandising standards; ensuring displays and visual merchandising, promotional messages and current promotions comply with company’s standards and showcasing product features.
• Continuously monitor stock movement, product trends and customer feedback to advise management of critical action points in order to forecast product demand and manager inventory levels to minimize stockouts and overstock situations: plan for product phase-outs and introductions.
• Facilitate the purchase order process, verifying budget/contract alignment and confirming delivery of orders in systems.
• Continuously monitor the competitive the competitive landscape and impart key insights into line plan; preparing regular reports, continuously monitor and analyze sales performance, inventory levels and market trends, updating buying managers on market intelligence to inform purchasing and merchandizing decisions.
• Maintain and disseminate product knowledge including product information, specifications and photographs for use by the marketing and sales teams.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional material and campaigns and ensure compliance with marketing activities as directed by management.
• Conduct vendor reviews, holding vendors accountable to established/agreed upon specs.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Required:

• Ability to compile and generate accurate data analytics, pricing data and other metrics to inform decisions and commercial activity.
• Ability to interact with people and handle stressful situations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of supply chain procedures and merchandising.
• Excellent organization and administrative skills and detail oriented.
• Maintains a high standard of honesty, integrity, and ethical behaviour.
• Analytical with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), inventory management and merchandising software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skill particularly tact and patience.

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Management, Marketing or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Buyer/Merchandiser, preferably in furniture, appliances, or electronics retail industry.
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Experience in category management, product/brand management will be an asset.
