The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health) is currently seeking to employ a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner for the Trelawny Health Department. Reporting to the Medical Officer (Health), the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for implementing various components of the Community Mental Health Services, in keeping with the Ministry of Health policies and guidelines.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

• Provide comprehensive mental health as well as curative services to the clients receiving follow up at the Community Mental Health Clinics
• Conduct home visits to provide mental health care to delinquent and indigent clients
• Respond to psychiatric emergencies and crisis situation arising in the community
• Consult with the Psychiatrist, Regional Mental Health Officer and other health care professionals on matters relating to client care and acts as Mental Health Nursing Consultants
• Develop and implement treatment plans as necessary in consultation with psychiatrist
• Plan and implement psychosocial rehabilitative programmes

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

SPECIFIED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent planning, organizing and management skills.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
• Effective leadership skills with the ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships
