The Medical Attendant is expected to provide general physical support, manual strength and maintenance to all departments. This includes but is not limited to transport / transfers of patients, basic maintenance for certain biomedical equipment, general security and vigilance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers daily.
  2. Performs general servicing and basic maintenance to biomedical equipment and any other services as needed, such as assembling, monitoring and maintenance of oxygen system and medical gases, compressed gas banks and respective equipment necessary for their operation as needed.
  3. Transport / transfer patients within any department, around the facility, or to and from various locations or via ambulance. This includes lifting and turning patients.
  4. Performs basic servicing and maintenance of Ambulance.
  5. Maintains general restocking of bulk items for hospital or any other department when required.
  6. Performs general courier/messenger duties as required.
  7. Assists with basic plumbing, electrical and janitorial duties as required.
  8. Disposes household waste according to standard operating procedures and safety regulations.
  9. Provides basic security and monitoring function for the general premises building and staff from intruders or disruptive elements.
  10. Provides general assistance to contractors or service providers at SMC when required.
  11. Performs first responder duties in the event of a fire or emergency.
  12. Performs any other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Valid Drivers Permit - minumum ten (10) years driving experience
  • Basic First Aid Training

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to document and communicate effectively.

  • Ability to think creatively and to demonstrate flexibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  • Minimum 5 O’ level passes inclusive of Mathematics and English Language.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ working experience; three (3) of which should be in a related position 
  • Basic First Aid Training

OTHER:

  • Must be able to work a shift system, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Police Certificate of Good Character
