Mechanical Tour Guide (ATV)

Overview:

We are seeking Mechanical Tour Guides to be responsible for delivering accurate and engaging tour information while ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and professionally managed experience for all guests. The role involves both guest interaction and equipment handling, requiring a high level of responsibility and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • At least three (3) CXC subjects, including English
  • Proficiency in a foreign language is an asset
  • Minimum of two (2) years driving experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Certification in public speaking is desirable
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Team Jamaica Certification

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Solid knowledge of the tour route and related content
  • Ability to remain calm and composed with challenging guests
  • Pleasant and professional demeanor
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and complaint handling
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • High ethical and professional standards
  • Passion for the outdoors and environmental awareness
  • Physical ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy equipment
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tour Operations
  • Greet and prepare guests for tours in line with safety standards and company policies
  • Conduct guest orientation sessions to ensure understanding of safety rules and tour expectations
  • Provide accurate and engaging information throughout the tour
  • Operate tours in accordance with training, safety standards, and environmental policies
  • Monitor guest behavior and enforce adherence to safety procedures
  • Recommend the removal of individuals who breach safety rules or do not meet tour requirements
  • Discontinue tours if safety concerns arise
  • Ensure all equipment is clean, safe, and fully functional before each tour
  • Wash and sanitize tour units and equipment regularly

Safety and Incident Management:

  • Report all incidents and accidents immediately to the Team Leader/Supervisor
  • Complete incident and accident reports accurately and promptly
  • Conduct regular trail and equipment inspections and log findings
  • Report equipment failures, malfunctions, or abnormalities

Maintenance and Support Duties:

  • Assist with minor repairs and maintenance of tour vehicles and infrastructure
  • Take ownership of all assigned and unassigned equipment
  • Participate in periodic inventory checks
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in all tour-related areas
  • Work at alternative locations if required
  • Attend scheduled team meetings and training sessions
  • Support and collaborate with teammates to uphold company values and professionalism

Performance Criteria:

  • Guests receive accurate, engaging, and safe tour experiences
  • Safety procedures and environmental standards are consistently upheld
  • Professional behavior and presentation are maintained
  • Client satisfaction targets are met or exceeded
  • All tools and equipment are properly maintained and clean
