The Business and Employment Centre is seeking to recruit a skilled and detail-oriented Auto Technician on behalf of its client. Main duties & responsibilities

  • Completing vehicle service requirements by lubricating, changing filters, tires and belts, keeping coolant, windshield wiper fluid, and tire air up to level, etc.
  • Install or repair air conditioners and service components, such as compressors, condensers, and controls.
  • Inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
  • Maintaining vehicles in functional condition by listening to drivers’ complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components.
  • Verifying vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
  • Maintaining vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
  • Keeping workshop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Containing costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Using diagnostic equipment and/or referring to manufacturers’ specifications and manuals.
  • Dismantling faulty assemblies and repairing or replacing worn or damaged parts.
  • Performing any other reasonable and related duties as delegated from time to time by the Executive Chairman or his nominee.

 
 
Education & Required Skills

  • At least 5 CXC passes at General proficiency, including English Language and Mathematics 
  • City & Guilds or similar certification in Motor Vehicle Engineering, Electronics or other relevant qualification from an accredited institution
  • At least two (2) years’ previous experience in a similar position would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of basic safety and health requirements and procedures
  • Ability to work without close supervision
  • Good command of the English Language
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms
