We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical/Industrial Engineer with expertise in packaging machines and their maintenance to join our team at Caribbean Depot Ltd. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, analysing, and optimising packaging systems, as well as overseeing the maintenance, repair, and improvement of various packaging machines. Your expertise will ensure the efficient and continuous operation of packaging lines while minimizing downtime and improving the overall productivity of the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, install, and optimise packaging machinery systems to meet production goals.

- Analyse and troubleshoot existing packaging equipment, ensuring that machines operate at peak efficiency.

- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for packaging machinery to reduce downtime and extend machine life.

- Perform regular inspections, tests, and audits of packaging equipment to identify issues and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

- Work closely with the maintenance team to address any mechanical or electrical failures and ensure swift repair of packaging machinery.

- Collaborate with production teams to ensure packaging equipment is aligned with production needs and schedules.

- Conduct root cause analysis of packaging system failures, making recommendations for improvements and corrective actions.

- Assist in the planning and implementation of capital projects, such as the installation of new packaging machinery or upgrading existing systems.

- Provide technical guidance and training to operators and maintenance staff on the proper use and maintenance of packaging machinery.

- Continuously monitor and optimize packaging lines to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.

- Develop and maintain documentation on machine specifications, maintenance procedures, and service schedules.

- Ensure all packaging machines meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards, including compliance with GMP, OSHA, and other relevant guidelines.

- Collaborate with vendors and external service providers for equipment sourcing, repairs, and upgrades.

- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance packaging processes and reduce costs.

- Provide technical support to resolve issues quickly and minimize production interruptions.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

- 3+ years of experience working with packaging machines and their maintenance in a manufacturing or food production environment.

- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems within packaging machinery.

- Knowledge of packaging processes, including filling, labelling, sealing, and palletizing systems.

- Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining various types of packaging equipment (e.g., conveyors, fillers, labellers, wrappers, etc.).

- Familiarity with food safety regulations and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to work flexible hours and be on-call for emergency repairs when needed.
